Cornrows - F.A.Q.

I've been contacted by many dudes asking me questions about cornrows. What's the minimum hair length, how long does it take to get this or that design done etc.

Today I'm going to drop some information but I don't think it will be of much use. And then again I'm not a hairdresser so I can only share with you what I've been told by my hairdresser.

Anyway, here we go.

Number 1. What's the minimum hair length for cornrows?

I don't know. First of all you gotta understand that people's hair are different. Black people's hair is way too different from white people's hair. Then every race has different type of hair. Some is curly, some is straight, some is wavy, some is thick or thin. Lots of factors to take into consideration.

When I started braiding my hair into cornrows it was just like this.

So basically I would say as long as you can grab your hair there is a way to braid it. It would all depend on haw skilled your stylist is.

Number 2. Does it hurt to braid hair into cornrows?

I guess the question is as silly as when i hear someone asks does it hurt to get a tattoo? Speaking for me, no it doesn't. But pain levels are different for everyone. What I'm saying we all take pain different. I can say there are moments when it certainly doesn't feel nice. Especially on the sinciput where there are many nerve endings. It also depends on how hard your stylist pulls your hair. Again it's all individual. Go give it a try

Number 3. How much time does it take to braid cornrows?

Depends on a style and your stylist. Thick straight cornwos (up to 8) takes no longer than 40 min while others can take up to 2 hours.

Number 5. What's your favorite style?

Ain't got one. I like zig zags, i like straight, i vary them. You can look some of my favorite ones here
